Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission Godwin Dudu-Orumen Esq. has sought clarification from the Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC) on how the body intends to be committed to success of Nigerian teams.
Dudu-Orumen’s reaction came following a publication made by Sports Intelligence Magazine earlier today on the headline “NOC Reaffirms Commitment To Success of Nigerian Teams” .
“They should tell us how they intend to do this”? he started.
“Lets be honest, during the Tokyo Olympics, NOC did not take charge of the team”. “It was the Ministry of Youth and Sports that called the shots”.
“I am not aware of any concrete plans for the training and welfare of Team Nigeria”. “The NOC appeared to have abdicated its role in the preparation of the team”.
When probed further on if the NOC can not live up to its responsibilities, Dudu-Orumen clarified.
“I will not say that they cannot live up to their responsibilities”. “What I am saying is that NOC should go beyond rhetorics and present to the public its plans and how stakeholders fit into it, so we can tick off what it has done and ask questions of it where there are shortfalls or oversights” he concluded.
