Presidential candidate in the forthcoming Athletics Coaches Association of Nigeria (ACAN) election Mr Aliu Solomon has stated that issues of welfare of members of the association will become topmost if elected as President of the association.
Aliu who made his declaration on the association’s platform also shared his manifestoes with Sports Intelligence Magazine in a chat in Lagos where he made it clear that welfarism will be topmost.
“In every association, the interests and welfare of members tops the list” he started. “It must be given priority and the coaches association cannot be different”.
“A lot has been said about coaches getting the short end of the stick as regards the benefits in sports administration in Nigeria and this has been a problem of nightmarish proportions which seems to be worsening by the day”. Aliu further added.
The other two areas which makes up his 3 points agenda and which he hopes to improve on are Provision of an effective Data Base for Members and an effective Media and Publicity outreach which will provide mileage for the association.
Aliu did not fail to salute the outgoing President Mr. Godwin Ogogo for his effort towards ensuring that the association has kept up towards achieving the goals which it was set up, and promised to improve on it if elected.
The ACAN election is expected to hold in the first quarter of 2022, with no exact date fixed yet, but Aliu who is also the Head Coach of the Police Athletics Association will be slugging it out with Coach Ayodele Solaja who is currently based in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.
