Equatorial Guinea stunned Algeria with a 1-0 win to end their 35-match unbeaten streak and compel them to the bottom of group E in the ongoing Africa Cup of nations.

Esteban Obono’s goal on 70 minutes was the only goal of the game as Equatorial Guinea who were underdogs and ranked 114th in the world became the first side to beat Algeria since Benin did so back in October 2018.

The defending champions failed to salvage a single point from the game, as their frustration continued in the last twenty minutes without any result.

The defeat means Algeria must win their final group match against Cote d’Ivoire or face elimination at group stage despite being defending champions.
