Mohammed Salah and fellow Liverpool club mate Sadio Mane will on Sunday clash in the final of the AFCON 2021 after Egypt beat host Cameroon 3-1 on penalties.
Sadio Mane had yesterday guided his side to beat Burkina Faso 3-1 in regulation time, and it was difficult to ascertain if he was looking forward to meet his fellow club mate in the final.
But destiny has brought them to face each other for the first time in a final of this high magnitude.
The duo carry the burden of their nations on their shoulders, they will be looking forward to be part of individual and country’s history.
Salah will be hoping to win his first continental Showpiece and Egypt’s 8th AFCON title, while Mane will be craving to win his first and also wipe away the tears of a nation who have never won one.
They are arguably Africa’s greatest as at now, but one of them will smile home after Sunday’s clash while the other weep.
Both players have won the last three editions of the African footballer of the year Award and both have also longed to lift Africa’s biggest football trophy.
They will captain their sides when they meet in Sundays clash but will definitely set friendship if they must achieve their goals for their nation.
