Coordinator of the Qatar Fan Leader Network in Nigeria Rev. (Amb) Samuel Ikpea has clarified that Nigerians who wish to be in Qatar as members of the Qatar Fan Network can still make it despite Nigeria’s failure to qualify.
Ikpea who stated this in Abuja pointed that as Fan leaders, we are fans of football community and not just for Nigeria alone.
“Once you are a football fan, you are a fan” Ikpea started. “You don’t have to be in Qatar because Nigeria qualified”.
“I understand how everyone feels as they want to be in Qatar and watch the Super Eagles, but where they did not qualify, a football fan can still make it”.
“It’s sad Nigeria did not qualify, but we have to move on and that should not affect tourists who want to be in Qatar and enjoy the plans put in place by the “.
Modalities will be made known on how NIgerians who wish to be in Qatar for the world cup will be made known soon, and am sure it’s going to be fun being in Qatar”.
“The host country want to give the world an opportunity to see what it entails to have a feel of the first world cup on an Arab soil, and this opportunity has been extended to Nigerians” he concluded.
Nigeria failed to qualify for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup after Ghana compelled them to a 1-1 draw at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja. The first-leg was a goalless draw in Kumasi, which gave the Black Stars an edge ahead of the Super Eagles.
