The 2022 NUGA Games hosted by the University of Lagos have come and gone but one memory which distinguishes this particular edition is the Wedding Proposal which was publicly announced by two gold medalists who stole the show from others.

According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a student of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Sunday Ambule seized the opportunity of celebrating his gold medal by openly proposing to his love Sa’adatu Hashime another gold medalist from the same university.

It is the first time such would happen since the inception of the game, and the 26th edition where this proposal for marriage was publicly declared has set the tone for athletes to learn the act of appreciating each other.

Sunday Ambule a student of Social Studies Education and Sa’adatu must have appreciated each other, but taking the bold step to make this open declaration will give them more adulation in life.

They have both individually grabbed the ultimate gift of the NUGA Games by winning gold medals for their institution, and now, another medal is presented at Sa’adatu’s tiny finger.

The host Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe also threw support at the courageous step of the young love birds, by singling them out in his closing remarks speech as well as accepting to be the Father of the day whenever they want to tie the knot.

In his words, the Vice-Chancellor who was quoted by NAN has this to say, “This competition will ever remain fresh in the minds of the two intending couple and I will be happy to be the father of the day whenever they are ready to tie the knot.

“This is the first time we are experiencing something of such, so I praise their courage,” he said.

No one saw this coming at the begin of the Games, everyone came for gold and medals, but the two love birds have conquered NUGA, they did not just go home with gold medals alone, they also have also made for themselves a decision to use their gold medals and build a golden home.
