Proprietress of Great Platinum Schools Mrs. Ojeleye has stated that the government of Nigeria have shown little or no interest in development of School Sports as a means towards encouraging grassroots sports in the country.

Ojeleye stated this while addressing the media during the school’s second-biennial Inter House Sports which took place on Friday at the school’s sports complex at the Anglican Comprehensive High School Ipaja bus-stop along Command road.
“We invited the Local government to the Inter House sports we are doing today” she started. “But they did not bother to send a representative and that is bad”.

“Except you know somebody in the local government or in government, that is when they have to show interest in what the school is doing” she cried out. “It is sad that it applies to every other thing we do even when it is not sports”.
Ojeleye however did not hesitate to appreciate parents who have been encouraging and also said more need to be done. by corporate organizations to harness talents.

“Our parents are interested in sports and there are so much talents in the Alimosho area”. “But the challenge is there is no encouragement from people of influence in the state”. “And for that to be achieved, we expect the government to be involved”.
We expect companies, individuals and people of influence to show interest in sports because with sports, the financial and economic situation of a country is lifted and it boost the standard of living of the individual”.
“So if our corporate organizations, and government at the Local Government and at all levels show interest in Sports, it is going to be a different thing”.
