Can Morocco Stop Nigeria From Winning Her 10th WAFCON Title?

Nigeria’s Super Falcons will on Monday face the host, Lionesses of Atlas of Morocco in a semifinal clash that will make them seek a final ticket where they will be hoping to win the WAFCON for a record ten times. The Super Falcons, who have lost one match so far, will be facing a Morocco side that has remained unbeaten from the group stage to this level. The Moroccans may enjoy a home advantage, but they will never forget in a hurry that the biggest defeat they have ever suffered in football history was in Kaduna on October 17, 1998, when Nigeria defeated them 8-0. But that was 24 years ago, and this generation of the Morocco female team who have gathered confidence and qualified for their first ever World Cup will be looking forward to rewriting history at the expense of Nigeria, However, since losing to South Africa at the group stage, Nigeria have since retraced their step, winning all last three matches and hoping to win the La decima. The Super Falcons are optimistic, the best and arguably most successful in Africa and will not see the home crowd as an issue. In the 2000 and 2016 editions of WAFCONS, when South Africa and Cameroon hosted the tournaments, the Super Falcons beat the duo  2-0 and 1-0 respectively in the finals to clinch their second and seventh titles respectively. This shows that they are a team to reckon with and will not be afraid when they file out against the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco.
