NFF Appoints Three-Man Advisor On Age-grade Tournaments

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) under the leadership of Alh. Ibrahim Gusua has appointed a three-man panel to perform an advisory role to age-grade teams which consist of U17, U20 and U23. 

The appointment which was made to address the yearnings of issues affecting the development of football at the grassroots level saw the trio of Alhaji Ibrahim Balele Kurfi, Hon. Bukola Olapade  and Alhaji Abba Mukhtar have all been appointed to serve as members of the panel.

Alhaji Ibrahim is the Chairman of Katsina State Football Association, while Hon. Bukola Olapade, a sports marketing guru.

The empanelling of the trio has been done but is pending the composition of sub-committees by the new NFF Executive and the panel will be inaugurated on October 20 at the NFF Secretariat by the president.

They will start-off with their assignment as soon as they are inaugurated ‘as the U23 will soon engage their Tanzanian counterparts in a two-legged second round fixture with the first-leg in Dar es Salam on Sunday before a second-leg in Ibadan on October 29th, 2022.

Before now, the U20 and U17 teams have secured their qualifications to take part in the continental tournaments after winning their respective WAFU B tournaments earlier this year.

The U20 Africa Cup of will be staged in Egypt from 20th February to March 12th, 2023 while the U17 Africa Cup of nations will be staged in Algeria from 8th to 30th April, 2023.

Winners in the two age-grade tournaments are expected to represent Africa in Indonesia and Peru for the U20 and U17 tournaments respectively.
