Africa’s hope of scoring their first goal at the Qatar World Cup failed to yield any result in their fourth game as Cameroon bowed by 1-0 to the superiority of Switzerland.
A first half goalless draw was witnessed before a second-half strike from Breel Embolo gave Switzerland a narrow 1-0 victory over a Cameroon side that failed to convert an early chance which was saved by Yann Sommer.
The Indomitable Lions continued their attempt to break the goal-drought which African teams have experienced in this World Cup, but their roar was weak and had nothing to show for it at the end of the day.
With the Teranga Lions and Indomitable Lions all down to defeat to two European sides, attention will be shifted to the Black Stars of Ghana who will slug it out with Portugal tonight in their group opener.
Sadly, Africa’s goal drought continues as her fifth representative looks forward to breaking the jinx.
