The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alh. Ibrahim Gusau has extended the tenure of the Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) till the end of the 2022/2023 League season.
Gusau, said extending the tenure of the IMC became necessary as this will allow the team to concentrate fully on the organization of the ongoing NPFL season, which is going to experience its match day 3 this weekend.
The IMC headed by Gbenga Elegbeleye was inaugurated on October 21st, 2022 with an initial mandate of three months with the target of giving the NPFL an upgrade.
However, due to time factor, the IMC opted for an abridged format for the 2022/2023 season which allows 10 clubs to be in two different groups each to enable them meet up.
It is expected that the 2022/2023 NPFL season will end in May 2023 before the 2023/2024 season begins.
