After beating Enugu Rangers in their first match of the season, Abia Warriors made another loud statement with an impressive 3-1 victory over visiting Bayelsa United.
An early goal in the first two minutes of play gave them the lead through Kalu Nweke, which saw them hold on to the 1-0 lead at half time.
In the second half, Bello Lukman scored the second goal to give his side a comfortable 2-0 lead in the 65th minute, but deflected the ball into his side in the 83rd minute to concede an own goal and give the visitors some hope of coming back.
However, Henry Udezuka’s goal four minutes after the own goal, ensured that the home side took a two-goal score before the 90th minute.
The victory means Abia Warriors go top of the table with six points from two matches and are trailed by Dakkada FC who beat Wikki Tourist by 2-1 and now have four points after a draw in their first match.
