Sunshine Stars of Akure forced multiple NPFL Champions, Enugu Rangers, to a 1-1 draw in Akwa this afternoon.
Enugu Rangers, who have been striving to secure their first win in the 2022/2023 season, took an early lead against their hosts when an own goal from Nkedimnachi Imo of Sunshine Stars helped the home side in the 14th minute of play.
But the determined Sunshine Stars did not let the lead go beyond half-time as they leveled up on 36 minutes when Ibrahim Yusuf converted a pass from Uzoechi into a goal.
The score line remained the same in the second half as efforts made by Rangers to score another goal and secure their first victory proved abortive.
Sunshine, who have secured three draws in their last two games, extended their draw streak to three to secure three points, while Enugu Rangers, who are yet to secure a win in their last two games, salvaged a point from the game.
