NPFL Match Day 5 Round-Up: Bendel Insurance, Plateau United, Abia Warriors Secure Wins As Wikki Tourists Suffer Defeat Again

The match day 5, the results of 10 NPFL games which were played on Wednesday across different locations in the country, recorded nine wins and a draw with a total of 18 goals scored. 

Newly promoted side Bendel Insurance maintained their winning streak on Wednesday with a 1-0 away victory against Elkanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.

Deputy Echeta’s goal in the 29th minute of the first half made the difference as Insurance continued with their brilliant performance after their fifth game of the season.

Plateau United, Abia Warriors and Remo Stars, who all lost their last matches, returned to their winning ways with victories which saw them garner the maximum three points needed to keep their hopes alive, while Enugu Rangers, who longed to secure their first victory this season, eventually got a win against Dakkada FC to move out of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, in Port Harcourt, defending champions Rivers United made the situation worse for Wikki Tourists, with a 2-0 win, which made the hosts maintain their top position. The defending champions, who now recorded their fourth win this season, also recorded their first clean sheet this season.
