Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro has said that Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen played under more pressure in a Nigerian jersey than when he played for his club, Napoli.
According to a post-match interview by the Super Eagles Media Officer, Babafemi Raji said expecting so much from Napoli forward puts him under so much pressure whenever he plays for Nigeria.
The response came when the Portuguese tactician was asked if his tactics did not fit into Oshimhen’s style of play, as the Super Eagles forward had failed to score in two-legged matches against Guinea Bissau.
“Victor belongs to the group of the best players in the world and not only in Europe. Peseiro said.
“Sometimes people complain when the player doesn’t score. Sometimes they don’t have to put all the faults and demands on a player. They feel the pressure too. Osimhen could be our match winner and he tried to do that, but they think it is important to score. “I think Osimhen feels more pressured in the Super Eagles than in Napoli.” He concluded.
So far, Victor Osimhen is the highest goal scorer in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier and so much was expected from him in the games against Guinea-Bissau.
