The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) has officially announced its readiness to welcome athletes and officials from 52 African countries as they take part in the second edition of the African Beach Games expected to hold in Hammamet, Tunisia.
According to an official statement issued by ANOCA and made available at the NOC Media Centre by Tony Nezianya, Public Relations Officer of the NOC, the statement stated that the event would hold from June 23 to June 30, 2023.
The 52 participating countries are Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde Central African Republic, Comoros, Congo Brazzaville, Djibouti, Egypt, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Equatorial guinea, Mauritius island, Kenya, Lesotho, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania and Mozambique.
Others are Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa,South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Chad, Tunisia (host country), Togo, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The event is also expected to have more than 1,100 athletes in attendance with 500 officials involved, while 300 volunteers have also been mobilized for the event which will have athletes jostle in 16 different disciplines through the 8-days event.
The 16 disciplines which the athletes are expected to compete in are: Beach Handball, Beach Football, Beach Volleyball 4X4, Beach Tennis, Basket 3×3, Beach Rowing Sprint, Open Water Swimming, Sea Kayaking, Karate Kata, Wushu Kung-fu, Beach Wrestling, Air Badminton, Teqball, Beach Marathon 10km, Paddie and Fencing.
The event tagged Hammamet 2023 which will play host to athletes will also welcome dignitaries from institutions such as the International Olympic Committee, the Director General of Olympic Solidarity and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Organising Committee.

The mascot for the event “Yoyo” has been unveiled; it emerges from the seas and oceans of the African continent and in a form of mosaic shell, with a bouquet of jasmines in front to welcome all of Africa to Yasmine Hammamet, thereby establishing the legendary hospitality of Tunisia which has three thousand-year-old history and referred to as “Ifriqiya”.
