Angry fans of the Heartland F.C of Owerri today went gaga after their home match in their week 4 NPFL game and called for the immediate sack of the team’s head Coach, Mr. Christian Obi, following a 1-1 home draw against visiting Katsina United at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
The Naze Millionaires who are yet to secure their first ever win since coming from relegation this season took an early lead in just three minutes of play which gave them an advantage and this probably raised the hopes of their Supporters Club who started counting their chicks before they were hatched until a second half equalizer burst their balloon of hope.
The home side were able to hold on to their lead for the entire first half, and displayed a kind of game which suggested that they were not really willing to score more goals but the visiting side made frantic efforts to level up and snatch at least a point in the game.
Things turned around in the 73’ minutes of the second half when Michael Okoro Ibe of Katsina United converted a lose pass to a goal to level up for the visiting side and the home fans hope of celebrating their first win went sour despite having 17 minutes of play within regulation which could have been utilized to take another lead.
Sadly, there were no serious tactical input made from the dugout which could have given them a lead, rather, it was the visitors who showed signs of taking the lead but thanks to goalkeeper Chisom Chiaha who made two saves to save the Naze Millionaires a possible embarrassing home defeat.
Shouts of “Obi Must Go” filled the air at the blast of the final whistle as the Heartland FC Supporters Club picked their musical instrument to express their grievances insisting that Christian Obi who has failed to win a match since the begin of the season lacked the competence to manage the team despite all the spending made by the state government to motivate the team.
Heartland FC are currently 17th on the league table with 3 points after four matches but are likely to drop further if Enyimba FC who are 18th from two matches on the table with 3 points win their next match or even secure a draw.
