The 2023 Onitsha City Marathon race which was postponed on two occasions has finally been canceled according to a report posted on the NOC Media platform by the Public Relations Officer of the NOC, Mr. Tony Nezianya.
The report cited a statement issued by a member of the Main Organizing Committee (MOC) Philip Badejo, which was issued on November 9, 2023.
No reason was given for the cancellation of the event which had been postponed twice, despite Anambrarians looking up to the event.
However, the MOC merely said that they and GLS Projects, its Marketing Partners would look forward to organizing the event next year.
The event was planned for Sept. 30 and later rescheduled for Oct. 25, 2023, and even then did not hold.
