Nigeria’s foremost supporters club, the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) witnessed a massive return of break-away members to the club back after they exited the club about four years ago after the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup Sports Intelligence Magazine report.
The returning members who were received during the club’s general meeting which took place on Thursday, November 2nd, 2023 at the National Secretariat of the club in Surulere, Lagos returned exactly 72 days to the AFCON 2023 expected to hold in Cote D’Ivoire 2024 in January.
Speaking on their return, the National Chairman of NFSC, Amb. Samuel Ikpea while commending their decisions to retrace their steps back to the One United Club said their decision would afford NFSC an opportunity to give massive support to the Super Eagles of Nigeria when they chase their fourth title next year in the continental showpiece.
“We are glad to have them back after they left about four years ago after the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup” Ikpea started. “And all who returned will be embraced with open arms after the reconciliation process” .
“Their return would be a boost to the club’s goal of giving the Super Eagles of Nigeria massive support in Cote D’Ivoire next year when the Super Eagles work towards winning their fourth title after winning their third title in South Africa during the 2013 edition”.
While celebrating the return of some of the break-away members, Ikpea further stated that efforts are still been made to have more members who left the club return and he is optimistic that something positive will come out of it.
“We are still in talks with those who are yet to make return to NFSC like these ones did, we are optimistic that the God who touched the hearts of those who returned will also touch the hearts of others and they will come back to NFSC he said.
Congratulating the National Chairman of the club for a job well done, the President-General of the Nigeria Football and other sports Supporters Club Dr. Rafiu Ladipo praised the executive of the NFSC under the leadership of Amb. Ikpea for the accomplishment and encouraged everyone to bury all hatchets and ensure the interest of the club is put ahead of that of any individual.
The highlight of the ceremony was the signing of the oath of allegiance form, which was administered on all members and it is intended at ensuring that members shall at all times owe allegiance to the club.
Speaking on the oath of allegiance, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo clarified that the oath of allegiance form is for every member inclusive of the himself, the National Chairman, executives, returned members as well as members. In fact, he added that any intending member who wants to join the club will also fill and sign the oath of allegiance form.
Recall that critics have always kicked against the presence of multiple supporters club during Super Eagles matches and this step is one of the steps put in place to make Nigeria have a One United Club
