The Anambra U-15 female Rugby team (Amazons) yesterday had a friendly match to shape the girls for fitness ahead of the National Youth Games which comes up next month in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The warm up match which was played against the Delta State Rugby team in Asaba gave the girls an opportunity to play with a youth team which had pedigree in Nigeria. The match was Amazons first ever friendly, and it ended in a try in favour of the Delta team. The experience was good and a boost for the girls particularly as they played Delta team.

Amazons gets a swimming experience at the Grand Hotel Asaba

Delta State Rugby team have won gold medals on several occasions in Nigeria, hence the exposure was good for the girls. Since clinching the berth for the National Youth Games after the Zonal elimination which took place in Ebonyi State, Amazons have been in camp and are looking forward to making a good impact when they appear at the NYG. Sports Intelligence Magazine confirms that the girls went on a tour earlier today at the Grand Hotel Asaba, where they had a gym session and swimming exercise at the pool under the close supervision of experts.
