Australia will be looking forward to get their pound of flesh against the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria today, in their final group stage match at the U-17 FIFA World Cup.

In their last five meetings at this stage, Nigeria have won five times leaving the Australians with no single draw or victory.For the sake of the records, Nigeria beat Australia : 6-0 in 2015, 1-2 in 2003, 5-1 in 2001, 2-0 in 1995 and 0-2 in 1993.

Interestingly, of the five times Nigeria have beaten Australia at this stage, they won the championship on two of such occasions (1993 and 2015)

This leaves Australia in a situation where an outright victory is needed to re-write history and set a new record for themselves.

Moreso, Australia who are currently third position in the ranking of the third placed teams understands the importance of this match. As a victory against Nigeria will keep their hopes of qualifying as one of the best losers.

However, the Golden Eaglet of Nigeria who have already qualified will be looking forward to maintain their 100% winning streak against Australia at this level.
