Lagos goes agog as over 150 Blind Lifters drawn from across the country are set to slug it out at the maiden edition of the Nigeria Blind Powerlifting/ Bench Press Trials.

The event scheduled to hold from January 11-13, 2022 at the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos, is powered by BINA Foundation under the auspices of Hon. Amobi Chikwendu. The event coordinator, Barr. Silver Ezeikpe said the trials which is the first of its kind in Nigeria, is aimed at selecting the lifters that would represent the country at the forthcoming first IBSA Powerlifting/Bench Press World Cup and 2nd Africa Continental Powerlifting and Bench Press Championships holding from March 22-29, 2022 in Alexandria, Egypt . Ezeikpe added that the trials is a complete departure from the past where people fraudulently package themselves to such championships without going through the right channels thereby dragging the good image of Nigeria in the muds. The CEO of BINA foundation (the organization in-charge of all Blind Sports in Nigeria) Hon. Amobi Chikwendu is excited that the trial is holding for the first time in this part of the world. He also reaffirmed his willingness to reposition Blind Sports not only in Nigeria but in the entire west African region. Hon. Amobi promised to make Blind Powerlifting a household Sports in Nigeria just as he has done for Blind football which is already enjoying international recognition.
