The African football governing CAF has announced that VAR will be present in the venues of the underage tournaments while it will be introduced to the inter-club competition from the quarter-finals.

The U20 competition, which will start from February 24th to the 16th of March in Egypt, will be the first age-grade competition, where it will be used, while the U17 bill for Algeria, which will take place between the 30th of April to the 20th of May 2023 will be the second. The quarter-finals of the inter-club competitions will commence in April and run till June, while AFCON U23 will be from the 24th of June to the 8th of July, 2023. Nigeria's Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles will be among the teams that will take part in the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Algeria and Egypt respectively and will also have an opportunity to use the facility at this level.. The Olympic Eagles who are in the final round of the qualifier will also use it when they face Junior Syli Stars of Guinea, while Rivers United will participate in the group stage of the confederation cup.
