The Belgian Pro League is set to become the first major European league to be cancelled following the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Reports from BBC Sport confirms that Club Brugge will be declared champions officially on April 15 after the league's board of directors made the decision and recommended it to the general assembly.

The current Belgian League table shows that Club Brugge are on top with 70 points from 29 matches, and are 15 points ahead of KAA Gent who are second on table with 55 points.

According to a statement issued, the league said: "The board of directors unanimously decided that it was not desirable, whatever the scenario envisaged, to continue the competition after 30 June."
