Kenya’s female deaf national football team are hopeful and have called on Kenyans to support them despite being underdogs in Brazil.

The Head Coach Ben Bela and captain Emily Adhiambo made the call Sports Intelligence Magazine reports. The female deaf team will be making their debut in a round-robin format group where they will face Poland, Japan, United States of America and host Brazil in football. They left the shores of Africa ahead of others, and bear the burden of the continent to Brazil where they will need two wins to be in medal bracket spot. The women’s football team will to face Poland, Japan, the United States and hosts Brazil in a round-robin format. They have been adequately facilitated by the government to enable them acclimatize with Brazil and will get at least one week stay before their first match which comes up on May 3 against Japan. They will face Brazil a day after, before playing Poland and USA on May 7 and 9 respectively. Despite being underdogs, Coach Bela had boasted of his girls putting up a good performance and believes that they will compete and come out with a good result. Aside female football, Kenya is expected to take part in Athletics (men and women), basketball (men and women), handball (men and women) and golf (men).
