Nigeria's Dorcas Adesokan Ajoke confirmed her superiority over her African counterparts on Sunday 1st December where she emerged victorious in the Zambia International Badminton Championship.
Adesokan who is Africa's number one in female singles ranking in the world was seeded number one for the tournament.
She started off with a clear two set victory in the championship with Uganda's Fatima Nabirungi as she won 21-9, 21-6. Before defeating Egypt'sJana Ashraf in an outstanding performance that saw her win 21-13. 21-13 in the quarterfinals.
En route winning the championship, Dorcas scaled through a tough Egyptian hurdle in the semifinal and final. In the semifinal, she defeated Hadia Hosny (3)21-19, 21-16 to set up a final clash with Doha Hany who is Africa's number 2.
Though she lost her first game to Doha by 15-21, she was good enough to rise up to the occasion and get two straight victories by 21-13, 21-16 and emerge champion.
