Nigerian striker, Taiwo Awoniyi  scored his fourth goal for Bundesliga side Union Berlin yesterday in their 2-1 home win against Dortmund.

It was his eleventh appearance for his side and was significant as his side needed to win to close up on Dortmund.

The 23-year-old who is on loan from Premier League side Liverpool opened scoring for Union Berlin in 57’ minutes before Dortmund leveled up in 60’ minutes through Moukoko strike.

Awoniyi’s side that were determined to get a win on home soil scored another in 78’ minutes through Friedrich, before they maintained a defensive style of played that paid off.

The 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner was substituted in the 86’ minutes before his side eventually won.

Awoniyi is obviously one of the very few Nigerian players who was discovered at the cadet championship, and is been looked forward to make an impact in the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The victory means Berlin now trail Dortmund with one point and are fifth on the Bundesliga table.
