The Super Falcons of Nigeria made history today as they beat Equatorial Guinea 9-0 to become the first African side to win the Turkish Women Cup.

The nine-time African champions were merciless in their goal galore against their sister African country, as they scored an average of one goal in every ten minutes to complete the 90’ minutes.

The goal galore started with Glory Ogbonna who opened scoring in the first 9 minutes. Team captain Asisat Oshoala who eventually did a hat-trick started with an early brace which came in the 12’ and 13’ minutes through penalties.

Oshoala scored again in the 26’ minutes to complete her hat-trick, before Uchenna Kanu’s 36’ minutes goal made it 5-0 for the Falcons.

Just before half time, Charity Adule and Toni Payne registered their own goals in the goal rush at 39’ and 43’ minutes respectively, ending the first half with 7-0.

The second half started well, but it took the falcons till about 70’ minutes before Gift Monday scored the 8^th goal of the match. Oshoala scored the 9^th goal to seal the goal harvest in the 85’ minutes.

Aside being the best attacking side, Waldrum’s women were also the best defensive team in the tournament. They scored a stunning eleven goals in three matches, but did not concede a single goal.

Falcon’s captain Asisat Oshoala emerged as the highest goal scorer of the tournament with four goals, while Uzbekistan’s Nilufar Kudratova finished second with two goals.
