Unai Emery has been sacked by Arsenal after taking charge of the team for 18 months.

The former Paris-Saint German and Sevilla boss was relieved of his appointment for failing to meet up with expected requirement

BBC Sport reported that Arsenal took the decision "taken due to results and performances not being at the level required".

Prior to his appointment, the Spaniard won three consecutive Europa Leagues with Sevilla, and also guided french giant PSG to the Ligue 1 title.

Unfortunately, he guided Arsenal to their first Europa League final last season but failed to deliver the trophy to the gunners.

Since the begin of this season, Arsenal have played 13 premier league games and have won 4, losing 3 and drawing 6. They are currently on 8 position in the premier league table.

The Gunners have not won in seven games and lost at home by 1-2 to Eintract Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday.

This is Arsenal's worst winless competitive run since February 1992, which was eight games, under George Graham.

Arsenal board has replaced him on a temporary basis by assistant and former Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg.
