The Lagos State Commissioner of Police Mr Hakeem Odumosu has come out to state that the efficiency seen by the Police men deployed to the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon 2020 was a s a result of good training.
Odumosu who spoke to newsmen during the event started by saying: I am so happy, our efforts has not been in vain”
“For the past 72 hours we have been training our men about this event, practicing and lecturing them on how to be of conduct during the race”.
“The event is an international event and if something goes wrong, it is not just about Lagos or Nigeria, but the image of the nation when it comes to hosting a major event is put at stake”.
When probed on why the police men who are on the roads bully people compared to those deployed to the race, the Police boss has this to say.
“We don’t bully people, but one thing you should also note is that this place is well organized. It is not the same outside this event place. We meet different set of human beings with different character and the approach is slightly different”.
“In dealing with human beings, you have to understand your audience and your audience also determines the language you use”.
“Our approach for the games is different from the street, all the police men deployed here are from the Police College Ikeja”
“Moreover, there is an improvement in our performance this year, and we shall continue to work towards that” he concluded.
