President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Sir Honour Sirawoo celebrates birthday today September 3.
Since becoming President in 2016, the Rivers State born has made lots of input in the association.
Under Sirawoo, SWAN became a corporate entity. The association also strengthened its affiliation with AIPS leading to young reporters from Nigeria benefiting from the AIPS young reporters programme.
Sirawoo was re-elected unopposed for a second term during the October 2019 triennial congress in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State capital.
Delegates from 31 states, as well as representatives of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) witnessed his return.
Sirawoo, who is currently running his Doctorate degree programme at the Imo State University, is also the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sports Rivers State.
He became the first Rivers born indigene to join the college of President of Sports Writers in Nigeria. A feat which has helped appreciates the role which the garden city has played in National Sports development.
