Management of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has placed a fine of N8m on Kano Pillars following unsportsmanlike behavior which they exhibited at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.

Kano Pillars fans invaded the pitch during their match with Rangers, destroyed perimeter fences and advertising panels while hauling objects at the VIP stand.

The League Management Company summarily charged Kano Pillars with a four count breaches of the framework and Rules of the NPFL as contained in Rule B13.-18, C9, C1.-1.

Pillars captain Rabiu Ali who was charged for accosting the referee got a 12 match ban from all NPFL matches and activities which commenced immediately.

The NPFL fined the club N1m each for the first three count charges which includes:

1. Hauling of objects towards the field of play by some of their supporters; 2. Failing to control and ensure proper conduct of its players and officials who accosted the match referee in protest and 3.Violent conduct of the supporters by encroaching into the field and attacking match officials.

The club was fined N5m for the fourth count charge, which was a breach of Rule C1.1. In addition to the fines, Pillars will play their next three matches behind closed doors and may forfeit three points in the new season 2019/2020 should it be found in further breach of the charges during the duration of the new season.

Based on the decisions, it is expected that the players and club are required to accept or appeal the charges and sanction in writing within 48 hours.
