Bayern Munich thrashed their arch rivals Borussia Dortmund 5-0 to go top of the Bundesliga table.

Before the match, Bayern trailed with one point and needed an outright victory to take the lead.

Goals from Robert Lewandowski, Mats Hummels, Serge Gnabry and Javi Martinez gave Bayern a 4-0 lead at half-time.

Dortmund's hope of winning their first Bundesliga title since 2012 suffered a heavy blow.

The devastating victory shows Bayern's determination to win the title for a record seventh time in a row, at the expense of Dortmund who nine points on top in December.

Bayern are already out of the Champions League, and will need to concentrate on winning the Bundesliga.
