Liverpool and Ajax booked their places in the last 16 to join Bayern Munich who had earlier secured a spot in the knockout stage.

Liverpool's 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid at Anfield with two more matches left ensured the job was done while Ajax scored three goals in the final 18 minutes to beat Dortmund before their fans and secure a knockout spot. Man City secured a home 4-1 win over Club Brugge to go top of group as they unseat PSG who failed to hold on to their 2-1 lead. Leipzig late goal through a penalty ensured the home side secured a point as the game ended 2-2. Madrid got a 2-1 victory to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive and will have the adulation of becoming the first club to reach the milestone of 1000th European goal following Benzema's opener.
