The Nigeria Sports Centre (NSC) clocked one year old since it was created on September 23, 2019.

The group was created with the primary aim of having a forum where stakeholders in Nigeria Sports can interact and address topical issues affecting sports development in the country.

Since its inception, it has become a hub for stakeholders in Sports such as athletes, coaches, administrators, media practitioners among others.

Ex-Internationals have not been left out, with the likes of Chioma Ajunwa, Chief Segun Odegbami, Daniel Ighali, Ike Shorunmu, Emmanuel Babayaro to mention but a few all being part of the platform.

In the bid to explore the objective of the group, the Chief Administrator Mr. Akeem Busari a Journalist, have also introduced the popular HOT SEAT programme, which comes up from time to time. The programme gives room for a stakeholder to face a panel of journalists, take questions from them and provide answers while proffering solutions.

Notable among the stakeholders who have been privileged to be on the popular HOT SEAT are: Coach Fanny Amun-former Golden Eaglet Coach, Benjamin Okoroafor of Pipu TV, Eddie Isheri a FIFA Licensed Intermediary, Mr. Lucky Sunday a SA to the Delta State Governor on Sports, Rev. Samuel Ikpea National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club amongst others.

No doubt, the subject of discuss at the HOT SEAT have not only generated news contents for the media. It has also proffered solutions towards addressing key issues affecting Sports development in Nigeria. If properly looked into and implemented, it could take Nigeria to that level which Sports enthusiasts have always aspired for Nigeria.

In the bid to further nurture its primary objective of promoting Nigerian Sporting activities, there is high restriction on sharing of posts which are non-Nigerian Sports. Embargo is highly placed on European Sports, but could be tolerated if a Nigerian in Europe is directly involved.

The NSC also places ban on posts that are not Sports related and practically encouragesmembers on the group to make significant input towards issues.

With four administrators and 208 members as at press time, the National Sports Centre has within the past one year lived up to expectation. It will definitely do more to improve on its success in the past one year.
