Manchester City and Liverpool all dropped points in a midweek premier league encounter that opened up the title race with Tottenham closing up on gap on City to open the premier league title race.

It was indeed a midweek game of upsets as defending champions Man City who have been trailing league leaders Liverpool dropped three points first after losing by 2-1 to Newcastle in a match that appeared very tight for them.

Although City's loss gave hope to league leaders Liverpool who were to play the next day and increase their gap against City by 7 points, but they failed to show the true character of a champion against Leicester and settled for a draw leaving them with 5 points adrift City.

Tottenham came back from a first half lead in a home match against an ambitious Watford to score twice in the 80th and 87th minutes respectively, securing a well deserved victory that makes them now close on gap against City to 2 points, while they increase their gap with Arsenal and Chelsea to 7 points making them now a contender for the title.

Chelsea Suffer Shocking And Embarrassing Defeat

Chelsea who appeared to be a major contender initially suddenly joined in the race for top four after a determined and technical Bournemouth lashed them by 4-0 to move to the top 10 and level on points with Everton and Watford who are now seated at 8th and 9th position respectively.

The loss means Sarri's men are now leveled on points with Arsenal but Gunners will be on top due to goal difference and this has really put the blues in a situation where they will join in the top four race with United who secured a draw on Tuesday encounter trailing behind them.

Arsenal who secured a 2-1 victory against visiting Cardiff on Tuesday will obviously be glad as that victory now ensured they benefited immensely from Chelsea poor performance to level on points with the blues with United keeping a body check on the two teams.
