Nigeria's U-23 side came from a 1-0 lead to beat Zambia 1-3. Grabbing the maximum points and keeping the Tokyo 2020 hopes alive.

The young Chipolopolo took the lead in the first 12 minutes through Patson Daka goal which gave the Zambians joy. But that joy had a slender body that broke so easily after just four minutes, when Orji Okwonkwo converted a corner-kick to level up for Nigeria.

Team captain Kelechi Nwakali converted a beautiful free-kick into a goal in the 65 minutes of play. The lead gave Nigeria a slim assurance of victory. But it was Taiwo Awoniyi late goal in injury time that sealed the victory.

The victory means Nigeria are now second on the table with three points. They trail South Africa with just one point, and both sides are to clash on Friday, in the final group match.

A victory for Nigeria will guarantee them a spot in the semifinal stage of the competition.
