Rangers International Rests Jersey Number 15 To Honour Late Striker

The management of Enugu Rangers International Football Club have decided to rest jersey number 15. The number belonged to her late striker Ifeanyi George.

According to a statement issued by the media officer Mr. Nobert Okolie, it quoted club Chairman Prince Davidson Owumi to say.

"After a lengthy deliberation by management, we came to a conclusion to rest the jersey number worn by our late attacker, Ifeanyi George". "This will be done for the whole of next season as a mark of respect and honour for his services to the club,".

This gesture according to Prince Owumi, was to further cement the good relationship Rangers had with the late striker while defending the colours of Rangers on the field of play".

"Plans are on ground to make the insurance benefit cheque presented to the family left behind by the player". It would be done in a grand event since it was the first of its kind in the country.

Management also thanked the sports loving governor of Enugu, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for approving the insurance policy for registered players and officials.

The 26-year-old died in a car accident in Abudu on March 22, 2020 while travelling to Lagos. His travel was necessitated after football activities were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
