Two-time AFCON winning coach with Zambia and Cote D'Ivoire Herve Renard, has stated he is targeting at getting Saudi Arabia to the finals of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The 51-year-old Frenchman who spoke with FIFA.COM stated that he will be glad to return to the World Cup with Saudi Arabia, after having his first experience with Morocco at the 2018 edition.
When asked by FIFA.COM if he wants to return to FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022 with Saudi Arabia, Renard said:
"Yes, certainly. When you experience the atmosphere of a World Cup, you would want to get there again. Nothing beats participating in the world’s greatest football tournament. I’ll work very hard to lead Saudi Arabia to the 2022 finals"
The Frenchman however noted he would not want to promise the fans anything big, but emphasized that reaching Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup finals was his main goal.
Renard is arguably Europe's most successful coach on African soil. Winning the AFCON title twice with two different countries and qualifying Morocco for their first World Cup after 20 years.
